44th Annual Snowball Derby

The 2011 Snowball Derby was by and large the greatest battle in the history of the storied race. A late race caution setup a thrilling five lap battle between Chase Elliott and Snowball rookie DJ VanderLey. The two drivers raced side-by-side each lap… some thinking that VanderLey was going to pull off the upset victory by using the momentum of the high line. Elliott was able to edge past on the final lap, and score his first Snowball Derby victory, at only age 16. Ted Baber, owner of Ted Baber Video Productions and Five Flags Speedway videographer captured the final moments of the race, and has shared them with the masses. For a full copy of the race, shoot him an email to ted_baber@yahoo.com. Enjoy!

I for one could give two craps less about New Year's this year, however, for those that will be out tonight: Have fun and be safe. I look forward to seeing photos and stories from the night. Cheers!

I noticed that looking at pictures and posts from everyone else's Christmas is a lot easier, and more enjoyable when you yourself had an awesome experience. Now, back to the daily grind. Much work awaits.

The one thing I love to do with my family above most other things, movie nights. Tonight we're watching Cowboys and Aliens.

Just took a few minutes to go through +Trey Ratcliff circles list and circle people he has circled. Doing that took my stream from being mostly all +Mike Elgan and +Chris Pirillo to a more rounded out experience, and that's just from one Google+ user. Trust me, I enjoy having Mike and Chris in my stream but now there is more to read for sure.

In many ways today was a waste. I slept through most of the afternoon. I did get to talk to Victoria for a while, and I guess the sleep is always a good thing for me. Still, I have all these ideas and projects in my head… some half-started, virtually none finished. I am always too tired to actually work on them at any length, finding myself being pulled into a state of vegetation, wasting away a whole day. This is a cycle I have fought for years I think, and I'm on the loosing side. I guess that will be my New Year's resolution…. finish projects… stay focused and be more productive. Let's see what I can do in 2012.

My plan for the remainder of the week is to sort through the photos I shot at the Snowball Derby and retouch the ones that I think are important or just really cool. Also need to get my gear cleaned and prepped for the first race of my 2012 season, the Red Eye 100 at New Smyrna Speedway on Jan 7. So many projects to do, always busy. Now, however… sleep. :)
