Raceday: Everything You Need to Know for the 56th Annual Alabama 200
MONTGOMERY, Alabama (March 7, 2020) Today is raceday for the 56th Annual Alabama 200 “Hunt for the Bear ” at Montgomery Motor Speedway in Montgomery, Alabama. It’s the opening event for the Show Me the Money Pro Late Model Series and officially kicks off the year for the speedway.
Defending event champion and series champion Augie Grill is the favorite for today’s race, and holds the record for Alabama 200 wins at an astounding five victories.
Willie Allen topped the practice charts in Friday’s open test day. Allen is former champion at the Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville, Tennessee.
This event is chalk full of talent, mostly from Alabama and Georgia and includes some well known names mixed in with some new faces to the speedway.

Also on tap today is the season opener for the Modifieds of Mayhem, the Deep South’s premiere Modified racing touring series, home based at Montgomery Motor Speedway.

Race Format:
The Alabama 200 is a 200 lap Pro Late Model race. The first three laps under caution WILL count. Drivers cannot lose a lap under caution. The race will use controlled cautions up to lap 190 unless a caution is declared a “quickie yellow”. Drivers lineup how they entered pit road as long as they are in the correct position before 1 to go.
Under controlled cautions drivers will have 3 laps once the pits are open to perform service. They can pit for service without losing positions in regards to other cars that pit the first time by under the same caution. Once lineup is correct race control will announce the pit road open next time and pit open flagman will show green.
Restarts will be double file and the lucky dog rule is in effect.
This is an 8 tire race, and teams must start on the tires they qualified on. Teams may have 6 tires in their pit stall comprising one fresh set plus two scuffed tires for approved flats only.
