So. I spent a good deal of time waiting for Facebook to allow me to be able to create a new Facebook Business Page. During that time, I learned about another way to do things.
Enter, Facebook Professional Mode.
Instead of creating a new page, I’ve decided to give this feature a try. Basically, it turns my Facebook Profile into a hybrid of both my profile and business page. Instead of maintaining two feeds, I can do everything I need to do to promote my brand, and keep up with friends and family, all from one place.
Under this new system, my Friends are still listed as Friends, but also count as followers (no need to follow me in two places anymore) and I can have an unlimited number of Followers following my profile that are not on my Friends list. No more concern about the 5,000 Friend limit.
Combined, my old setup of Friends on my profile, plus Followers on my page came to right around 8,000 folks. Now, obviously, a lot of that was duplication of Friends also following my page. It took about 14 years for me to get to where I was before the hack. I hope it doesn’t take another 14 years to rebuild, but I am excited about the journey to get there.
Many may send in Friend requests that may go unconfirmed. Please don’t take offense to this. If I know you, and interact with you regularly, I’ll add you to my Friends list. If we’re mere acquaintances, or if you are simply interested in following my content, please hit that Follow button, just as you would have on my old business page!
The dust has settled since my original account was hacked and disabled. Now, the goal is to do the things that I do best, and hopefully rebuild my community of friends and followers.
It’s still going to take a while, but I am also going to work on building my brand across more social media platforms; Instagram, X, BlueSky and Mastodon.
This is only the beginning.
Cheers.
