PixelatedPICK: Our Picks for Who Will Win 15th Annual Baby Rattler at South Alabama Speedway
OPP, Alabama (May 23, 2020) — The time has come and 24 Pro Late Models are about to roll off into a thunderous blaze of excitement in the 15th Annual Grasshopper Pro Late Rattler 125 at South Alabama Speedway. Stephen Nasse will start from the pole, Bubba Pollard will start second looking for redemption from last year’s event, and young guns Daniel Dye, Dawson Fletcher and Jett Noland all hope to find their way around cagy veterans like Ryan Paul, Justin South and Willie Allen.
Who will win after 125 laps?
PixelatedSPEED Editor-in-Chief Daniel Vining
I’m going with a driver that has kept a low profile, but is poised to shine when the cars hit center stage. That driver is Ryan Paul out of Mobile, Alabama. Paul is a seasoned driver at South Alabama Speedway, having competed in four previous Baby Rattler 125s, with three top five finishes — including fifth last year driving for Larry Blount Motorsports.
Even after enjoying some success with Larry Blount Motorsprots, the two parted company come the season ending Snowflake 100 during the 52nd Snowball Derby weekend at Five Flags Speedway. Paul told PixelatedSPEED that it was a mutual choice and he looked forward to bettering his own program, from which he has scored three of his four top fives in the Baby Rattler.
At South Alabama, Paul lingers and bides his time. With as chaotic as this race can be for some, Ryan Paul is always in the fray at the right time, ready to strike when the moment comes.
For that reason, I’m going with Ryan Paul to win the Baby Rattler 125.

I’m going with Stephen Nasse. He’s already picked up a win coming out of the pandemic. And after the Derby I think he just wants to win every damn thing. That’s my short answer.
To elaborate a little, Stephen Nasse recently won COVID 119 at Showtime Speedway in Pinellas Park, Florida after the racing nation had been down since the middle of March. Prior to that, Nasse won the Pro Late Model event at Speedfest in Cordele, Georgia and night six at the World Series of Asphalt Racing at New Smyrna Beach Speedway in Florida this past February.
Nasse, who will start third in the 44th Annual Hardee’s Rattler 250, will start the Baby Rattler from the pole.
