Racecast Info – 53rd Snowball Derby to be Covered by Several Short Track News Outlets

PENSACOLA, Florida (December 3, 2020) — Since 2001, Speed51.com has made the yearly pilgrimage to Pensacola, Florida for the annual running of the most prestigious race in short track racing. Along the way the platform started by NASCAR personalities Bob Dillner and Matthew Dillner, has grown into a short track media juggernaut that covers everything from go karts to super modifieds, and everything else in between.

With the growth of Speed51.com as a whole, their relationship with Five Flags Speedway has grown into a partnership resulting in the media outlet being the official news provider of the speedway, the Southern Super Series, and the Snowball Derby.

Coverage began with the brothers Dillner shooting photos and writing articles almost two decades ago. It evolved from there to incorporate video clips, driver diaries and an increasing cast of journalists, photographers and presenters that has seen some of the best in the genre pass through.

It wasn’t long before the Derby saw its first Speed51 Radio broadcasts, and soon after, the first live video streaming of the race.

For its sixth year, Speed51’s streaming of the week long event will present itself on an even larger stage, with the recent launch of the new Speed51.TV platform.

A full production crew of reporters, camera operators, producers and directors will swarm Pensacola’s famed half-mile over the course of the week providing live content from the drop of the first green flag in practice through to the victory lane ceremonies following the race. This goes in conjunction with a fleet of photographers and journalists providing news content and features along the way.

And while the best way to experience a race is from the track itself, having the option to view everything from the comfort of home is allowing many to get a taste of the action, if even from afar.

The broadcast schedule for the Snowball Derby begins with Super Late Model practice at 10:00 AM Central on Thursday, December, 3rd and continues through to the main event, the 300 lap 53rd Annual Snowball Derby on Sunday, December 6th at NOON Central.

While the Speed51 juggernaut takes center stage with its coverage, there is an entire media corps of outlets and individuals providing in-depth news, information, and perspectives that complement the stellar streaming coverage.

Chief among these organizations is Short Track Scene, led by veteran reporter Matt Weaver. Weaver is a native of Mobile, Alabama and has risen from covering races along the Gulf Coast to covering the full spectrum of NASCAR offerings for Autoweek Magazine. Weaver launched Short Track Scene in 2015, and the website has become a go-to destination for news coverage of late model racing throughout the country.

Returning for his fourth year of Snowball Derby coverage is Speed Sport’s Jacob Seelman. In addition to providing top-notch news coverage for Speed Sport, Seelman is a radio host, podcaster, and announcer. Seelman has an in-depth knowledge of the sport, from asphalt to dirt to the virtual realm. Joining Seelman will be Speed Sport correspondent Brandon Crosslin, who is a rookie reporter at the Derby. The Nashville, Tennessee based writer is also an up and coming motorsports YouTuber.

A relative newcomer to the Snowball Derby, Turn2News is staffed by an experienced team. Led by Ben Kilcrease, the Turn2News crew has covered the Snowball Derby in many ways in recent years. Kilcrease comes to the dance for his ninth time, bringing first timers Aaron Grosskopf and Brian Britt. Last year, Kilcrease provided news coverage and photography for PixelatedSPEED.
