Jolynn Wilkinson Jetts into 2022 Racing Season
HUEYTOWN, Alabama (February 27, 2022) – This Alabama young gun has been working her tail off over the past couple of seasons to make her mark in the short track racing world. Jolynn Wilkinson, better known as JoJo has spent the past few seasons driving her family owned Pro Late Model at race tracks across the Deep South. With feature wins at some of Alabama’s tightest bullrings, Wilkinson, under the direction of her father, former ARCA Series driver John Wilkinson and the mentorship of NASCAR Hall of Famer Red Farmer, ventured out West in 2021 to race ARCA cars for Bill McAnally. In her debut at Colorado National Speedway, she finished 8th.
In 2022, Wilkinson looks to expand her opportunities by joining Jett Motorsports out of Jacksonville, Florida. Known as a proving ground for drivers looking to achieve the next level, Jett Motorsports will be able to provide the resources Wilkinson needs to grow beyond the local and regional track scene and explore more competitive racing environments.
From Wilkinson Racing:
“As many of you know we have been operating as a family owned team since 2017 mostly due to cost of racing. We have had many people help along the way and sponsor race to race.
Instacoat Premium Products came on board and has continued looking for ways to help me improve and be competitive.
We have signed a contract to run a Pro Late Model schedule with Jett Motorsports. I am very excited and thankful for this opportunity! We are also looking forward to a select number of races with BMR for ARCA west!!!
First race with Jett Motorsports will be the AL 200 at Montgomery Motor Speedway March 5th. Stay tuned to my website jojowilkinson.com for a full schedule.”
Wilkinson has had to overcome more than her fair share of obstacles throughout her journey, including more than one crash that has made it difficult for the small family run organization.
In 2019, Wilkinson was t-boned by another driver in a violent crash on the frontstretch at Five Flags Speedway. Not only was her car destroyed, but she was left with a broken ankle as well.
Once healed, she returned to the driver’s seat in strong fashion, winning in her first race back at Huntsville Speedway.
In recent years, Wilkinson has had the support and tutelage of another Alabama great, Augie Grill. It is a very common sight to see Grill in the Wilkinson pit area, mentoring and aiding in any way possible.
Wilkinson will be racing at venues across the Deep South, Gulf Coast and Southeast in 2022. PixelatedSPEED will follow her along the way as she continues her journey, which starts with the 58th Alabama 200 at Montgomery Motor Speedway on March 5th.
A quick take here:
With her father John, a NASCAR Hall of Famer in Red Farmer, two-time Snowball Derby Champion in Grill, and the resources of Jett Motorsports, look for Wilkinson to make huge strides in 2022.
