PixelatedPICK: This is Majeksi’s Year to Win the Snowball

PENSACOLA, Florida (December 6, 2020) — He’s one of the nation’s best short trackers, having won many of the country’s premiere and marquee events. He’s the highest rated driver on the iRacing sim-racing platform and has made his way to the ARCA, NASCAR Trucks and NASCAR Xfinity Series ranks. Oh, and he’s the current track record holder at Five Flags Speedway.

He’s Wisconsin’s Ty Majeski, and he’s my pick to win the 53rd Snowball Derby.

Majeski has led over 300 laps in Pensacola, 140 in the 2019 running of the Snowball Derby alone. He came within a restart of winning the race, but his most promising bid ended early following a restart malee that took out many top contenders. He was leading at the time.

After the 2019 Derby, Majeski was critical of restart procedures and had many discussions with race officials following the event.

When asked if he would return to the Derby and try again, Majeski told PixelatedSPEED, “Oh of course we’ll be back. It’s the Snowball Derby. It’s the biggest race in these cars and I really want to get this win.”

The start to Majeski’s 2020 could have been a crystal ball to what lay ahead for the entire motorsports world after ending the NASCAR Truck Series race at Daytona in February on the roof of his Neice Motorsports machine.

Majeski’s luck did not improve over the course of the first two-thirds of the NASCAR season, ultimately resulting in the young gun being pulled from the Truck Series ride and replaced by a series of drivers for the remainder of the year.

Without a NASCAR ride, Majeski double-downed his focus on Super Late Model racing, winning eight of eleven events entered. That includes winning the 2020 Rattler 250 at South Alabama Speedway, Oktoberfest at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway, and the South Carolina 400 at Florence Motor Speedway in his first ever start behind the wheel of a Late Model Stock Car. 

At the Snowball Derby, in the various practice sessions, Majeski and company opted to focus on the race setup over qualifying. He held his own in the various practice sessions, and in qualifying on Friday night, put down a very solid lap that will see this race winning contender start Sunday’s race from the third position.

Ty Majeski led the bulk of the second half of last year’s Derby. He’s the track record holder. He was the leader when his race ended last year. He has unfinished business in Pensacola, and is one driver everyone should watch on Sunday. He is… the PixelatedPICK for the 53rd Annual Snowball Derby.
